Fryman Canyon

This Maynard Woodard, architectural post and beam, had originally been photographed by Julius Schulman and published in HOUSE & GARDEN in 1955, and included in the Taschen book, MODERNISM REDISCOVERED. Therefore, the bones were great, but an "update" in the 1980's was at odds with the house and made it unattractive.

SWDS was enlisted to do a complete overhaul of finishes, kitchen remodel, as well as some bathrooms, cabinetry through out, and some custom designed furniture.

The goal was to honor the midcentury qualities that made the house great, but avoid being cliche.

These very sophisticated clients wanted a home that would be timeless, allowing their lives and interests a place to evolve and be reflected.

This project was published in the July/August ELLE DECOR 2010.
